The Professional Yorkshireman

Keith Platt is a irritated elderly character: he may be cynical, rough around the edges, but he speaks his mind, making people laugh about the things in life that would usually get us down. He has been likened to a Yorkshire born Al Murray on many account, due to his bags of energy, great ad libbs, and how he deals with heckles, as well as the way he delivers topical humour, while still remaining in character.

BLURB: Widowed five year ago when my dear Sandra got hit by a shopping trolley in Morrison's car park. It knocked her under a delivery lorry and that was that. My view of life changed that day and I decided to get out onto the comedy circuit and ''tell it like it is'' as our American friends are fond of saying. I'm living in London surviving on Curry (as the rest of the food is shite down here) and Sea-brook crisps when I can get them. Got to be down here for the comedy so come and say hello if you see me on a bill, unless you support Man U like everyone else down here... You know what you can do.

Keith Platt Live

I have recently had the fortune of seeing Keith Platt in the comedy tent at this years download festival. Walking towards the Comedy Tent I was astounded by the multitude of people crammed within. It was so packed that they were even stood outside just to get a peek at the stage, upon the stage there stood a man in a flatcap. The opening moments of Keith's set were absolutely tantalising, as he introduced himself as a straight talker from the north, which set the audience up for the rest of the set. The only real negitive comment I have to make is that he had some shpeel, which was obviously a strong view he had that I didn't quite understand either because I was not part of the same scene as him, or perhaps because I am not the same age as him, but I can honestly say that even after this, there was no love lost, because he jumped straight back into the stride of the show. I must admit that I was shocked that a man professing to be an eighty something year old could seem to fit into the metal scene, but once his set had ended I was sure not to make that mistake again, because after making the audience whoop and laugh he then went on to sing - in character - to a metal song of the comedians youth, which the audience were happy to join in with. Even as he skipped back along the gangway at the end of the show, the crowd still roared for more.

He is defininately an act not to be missed, but don't take my word for it.
